In these photographs I have created various ways of
using shadows to enhance the forms. In the "Shadow
Line" series the shadow that is created from the carved
line is fundamental for the effect of the finished piece
that I wanted.
The "bird Shadow" forms create a shadow of
a bird on the projected wall behind.
I have chosen to use a bare porcelain surface to
enhance the purity of both form and material. The creamy white of the porcelain also allows for the shadows inside and
outside the form to stand out. The shadows around the piece are
as important as the piece itself, as it frames the work and adds to the overall composition of
the form.
